Bollywood Dynasties: Part 5 - Beauty Queens

Miss India winners aren't really a dynasty in themselves, but it's an interesting list nonetheless.




Nutan was Miss India in 1952.



Zeenat Aman was Miss Asia Pacific in 1970.



Juhi Chawla was Miss India in 1984.




Aish and Sushmita Sen - Miss World and Miss Universe 1994





Lara Dutta, Priyanka Chopra, and Diya Mirza - Miss Universe, Miss World, and Miss Asia-Pacific for 2000.


Of these, I believe just Nutan came from a filmi family. The rest of these ladies made it on beauty and will power alone!

The path to Bollywood for women who want to make it big seems to be through a successful modeling career. I'm still in the middle of the argument. I've got a whole other list of models! I just didn't have time to post this morning.

I don't usually care for the 'model' look - as it's usually rather bland. Aishwarya is an exception for me because she is unusual looking, as well as beautiful. Maybe that's why I find actresses like Saira Banu so fascinating.

These Indian women are so admirable. I particularly remember being in awe of Lara Dutta's answers during the Miss Universe pageant. Do you know what she's in right now - like, modelling, or acting, or something else?

As far as I know, Lara Dutta is still acting. :D

What impresses me is how smart these actresses are. Lara Dutta has a degree in economics! I can't think of any American actresses who are also economic specialists.

Preity Zinta has a degree in criminal psychology. Amrita Rao has a degree in psychology. Vidya Balan has one in sociology. Bipasha Basu was studying to be an accountant. This list goes on.... The stereotype we have here of the dumb actresse/model certainly must not apply in India.
